
Yes they do. They are guard dogs and barking is their first response to a potential threat. However, they rarely bark at nothing so it is important to teach them early to distinguish between "normal" sounds and unusual ones (where you expect them to bark). The best way to deal with barking in a guarding breed is to acknowledge it. Check out the threat, praise the dog, tell it is is OK then take the dog away from the stimulus and do something else.
