
To your Maremma, anyone who he doesn't know is a potential threat. Some Maremmas assess these
situations more quickly than others and accept people, even strangers, relatively quickly; others take longer to make friends.
Avoid introductions in a door way. Put the dog somewhere else and let the person into the house. Let them sit down. Then bring the dog in.
Allow the dog to investigate the stranger if it wants to (either on or off a lead depending on the individual dog).
Obviously if your visitor doesn't like dogs or is frightened of them it is best to keep the dog out of the way altogether.
When children are involved, make sure they know how to behave. Tell them not to run or scream around the dog (this is sensible whatever the breed).
